AIRDOは、北海道札幌市に本社を置き、北海道と日本各地を結ぶ航空会社です。3KGは20年以上に渡り、ブランディング、広告制作、機内販売グッズのデザインなどに関わっています。私たちはもともとみんな旅行が大好き。休暇となれば国内外問わずあちこち飛び回っています。空港や飛行機も大好きな私たちにとって、地元に航空会社があり、そのブランディングに携われていることは幸運なことです。
AIRDOとの出会いは、3KGを設立して間もない2001年、就航3周年を祝うポストカードをデザインする依頼をいただいたこと。当時の広報担当の田中さんが、私たちのインタビューが掲載された雑誌の記事を読んで依頼してくださったのが始まりです。「3周年ですから、3を印象付けたいですね」と3枚のポストカードを提案したのはつい先日のことのよう。白いくまのマスコット「ベア・ドゥ」は、3KGの代表的な仕事のひとつです。
AIRDO is an airline company based in Sapporo, Hokkaido, which connects Hokkaido to various locations in Japan. 3KG has been involved in its branding, advertising, and in-flight sales design for over 20 years. We all love to travel both domestically and internationally on vacation and have a shared passion for airports and airplanes and have been lucky to have had a local airline and an opportunity to work with them.
Our first project with AIRDO goes back to 2001, shortly after 3KG was established. Mr. Tanaka, who was in charge of public relations at the time, commissioned us to design their third anniversary postcards after he found us while reading one of our interview articles. It seems like it was only a few days ago when we proposed our designs to them for the first time and said, "Let's both visually and physically represent this third anniversary by producing a triptych design. "Bear Do”, the white bear mascot of AIRDO, is one of our signature jobs.

白いくまのマスコット「ベア・ドゥ」。就航したときのポスターに登場していた黄色いテディベアを、機内販売グッズ用に私たちがアレンジ。1色印刷という制限が理由で白いくまが誕生しました。
Bear Do is the white bear mascot of AIRDO. Originally, we adapted a yellow teddy bear into the concept which was featured on an inaugural poster for “Bear Do” for their in-flight sales goods. Ironically the bear’s incarnation into the now iconic white bear was because of the limitations we had of one color printing at the time.

北海道の風景とベア・ドゥが描かれた特別塗装機。真っ白な機体が到着し、多くの整備士たちの手で機体にイラストが描かれました。空港に停泊していると、垂直尾翼に描かれたベア・ドゥが、こちらに手を振ります。2016年に就航し、2021年に引退しました。
We created specially exterior iconography for AIRDO's aircraft featuring Hokkaido scenery as well as Bear Do. When the white aircraft arrived at the airport, a team of specialists started painting the illustrations on it with Bear Do being painted on the vertical tail waving to us when the aircraft parked at the terminal gates. The aircraft began service in 2016 and was retired in 2022.

見たほうが良いのはわかっていながら、ついつい目をそらしてしまいがちな、機内で流れる安全動画。かわいいマスコットが機内での安全について説明をしてくれたらどうでしょう？ 注意事項が並んだ決して楽しい内容ではないのですが、ついつい見てしまう、そんなビデオを目指しました。
In-Flight Safety Video is something that we tend to look away from although we know we should watch. What if a cute mascot explained in-flight safety? We worked toward a video that you can’t help but watch though the list of precautions doesn’t make us fun.

機内で提供されているオニオンスープを機内販売するオリジナル商品としてパッケージデザインしました。個包装の中に時々ヒゲのついたベアドゥが現れます。
We designed the package of the onion soup served in-flight as an original product for selling in-flight. Sometimes, you can find Bear Do with a mustache in the individual wrapping.

2003年から毎年制作している卓上型のカレンダー。当時は対面のカウンターで飛行機のチケットを取ることも多く、旅程を決める時にカウンター業務の方が使いやすい！がコンセプトでした。機能面にいつしかベアドゥの可愛らしさをプラスして定番のカレンダーになりました。
We have been producing desktop calendars every year since 2003 and created a calendar that made it easier for passengers to use when deciding on an itinerary at the counter because unlike today with modern online services many people booked and received their plane tickets at the service counter at that time. It has become a standard calendar of AIRDO by adding adorable Bear DO as a functional aspect.
