3KG is a graphic design consultancy that approaches wide range of different projects including art direction, design, illustration and moving image for public and private clients both nationally and internationally. It was established as a collective of three graphic designers in 2001 and set up a limited company in 2004. It is based in Sapporo, Japan.

We produce graphics for corporate identity, publishing, advertising, broadcasting, exhibition and architecture. We take clear and relevant process to create a unique and distinctive works for our clients and ourselves.

There is a quote by Brunno Munari on the wall of the Design Museum in London. It says;

Progress means simplifying, Not complicating.

We like it a lot and have been trying to approach to graphic design in this way. Whatever field we work, finding out problems or messages our clients have is the very first thing for us to do.

As well as working with clients, 3KG has self initiated projects such as producing T-shirts, publishing free papers and organizing events. Currently we are planning to open D&DEPARTMENT PROJECT in Sapporo.

3KGは、アートディレクション、デザイン、イラスト、映像など、分野を問わず幅広く活動するグラフィックデザイン会社。大企業から個人経営のお店まで、日本に限らず海外の仕事も手がけています。2001年にグラフィックデザイナー3人が集まり活動を開始し、2004年法人化。活動の拠点は札幌です。

主な業務内容は、ブランディング、出版、広告、放送、展覧会や建築などのためのビジュアルプランニングと制作。オリジナリティの高い、ユニークなデザインを提案する一方、コンセプトをわかりやすく説明するアプローチが特徴です。

イギリスのデザインミュージアムの壁に書かれているブルーノ・ムナーリの言葉を引用します。

進歩とは簡素化すること、複雑にすることではない

わたしたちはこの一節が大好きです。自分たちのデザインもそうありたいと考えています。ポスターでも、ウェブでも、テレビでも、問題点を洗い出したり、核となるメッセージを見つけるのが、わたしたちがまず最初にクライアントと一緒に行うこと。

クライアントワークだけではなく、Tシャツの生産やフリーペーパー発行、イベント運営なども手がけ、現在、D&DEPARTMENT 札幌店をオープンするプロジェクトが進行中です。
